SSC CHSL 10+2 Recruitment 2026
Official Notification (PDF)
Verified from ssc.gov.in
SSC is filling about 2,536 clerk and data-entry posts on the strength of one 10+2 exam, and it calls that number tentative. Applications close on 7 October 2026 at 23:00, with fee payment open until the next evening. Your age is measured on 1 August 2026, not on the closing date. If your One-Time Registration was made on the old ssc.nic.in site it will not work here, and you have to generate it again on ssc.gov.in before you can apply.
Can you apply?
Two dates decide this, and they are not the same date. Your age is measured on 1 August 2026. Your 12th certificate only has to exist by 7 October. Born in September 2008? You turn 18 before the form closes, but not before 1 August, and 1 August is the one that counts.
- Age limit
- 18 to 27 years
- Born between
- 2 August 1999 and 1 August 2008
- Age measured on
- 1 August 2026
- Certificate needed by
- 7 October 2026
Most of these posts ask for nothing beyond a 12th pass from a recognised board. One set asks for more. DEO and DEO Grade 'A' in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, in the SSC itself and in the Ministry of Culture want 12th in the Science stream, with Maths as a subject. Still waiting on your result? Apply anyway. You only need the certificate in hand by 7 October.
Counted from your actual age on 1 August 2026.
What will you earn?
Three posts sit behind this one exam, on two pay levels. You rank, you list your preferences, and SSC does the allotting. Which post you land is what decides your pay.
Once SSC allots a post it will not move you, even if you turn out not to meet a requirement specific to that post.
Treat 2,536 as a placeholder. SSC calls it tentative and publishes the real state-wise and zone-wise numbers later.
How are you selected?
Tier-I, then Tier-II, both at a computer, with the Skill or Typing Test folded into Tier-II. One thing to know before you start guessing at answers: a wrong answer costs twice as much in Tier-II as it does in Tier-I.
60 minutes, split 15 to a section and timed section by section. All multiple choice. A wrong answer costs 0.50.
Session-I runs 2 hours 15 minutes. Here a wrong answer costs a full mark in Sections I, II and III.
Every DEO candidate sits the Skill Test. Nobody is exempt. The bar depends on where the post sits: 15,000 key depressions an hour for DEO posts in Consumer Affairs, the SSC and the Ministry of Culture, 8,000 for the rest. Fifteen minutes either way. LDC and JSA candidates take a Typing Test instead, at 35 words a minute in English or 30 in Hindi.
What do you do next?
One application. Send a second under a different registration number and SSC throws out every one of them.

The fee is Rs 100, and plenty of people will not pay it. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen eligible for reservation are all exempt. Payment is online only: BHIM UPI, net banking, or a Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or RuPay debit card. If the form gives you trouble, 1800 309 3063 is free to call.
How do you apply?
Only online, and only at ssc.gov.in or through the my SSC app on the Play Store. Before any of that you need a One-Time Registration, and this is where people lose a cycle: an OTR made on the old ssc.nic.in site does not work on the new one. You have to generate it again.
Generate your OTR on ssc.gov.in. Fill the application for this examination. Pay the fee by 8 October, 23:00. Do it once and the OTR stays valid for every SSC exam you apply to on the new site.
Two things worth knowing before you start. Choose Aadhaar-based authentication during OTR and your application cannot be rejected for a photograph or signature that fails the upload standards, and you will not have to carry a photo or a photo-ID to the exam centre. You also do not need a photograph ready: the form takes one through your camera while you fill it, so sit in good light against a plain background with the lens at eye level.
